Superman Returns the dvds and condoms he borrowed
Old friend and New Roomate ZP and I went to see Superman Returns in IMAX Wed. night. It was quite a spectacle.
If you liked the first two movies, you should probably love this one, as it's a direct sequel (ignoring 3&4) and pretty much all the actors do great jobs taking up the reins from their predecessors without slavishly imitating them. Well, except for when they consciously do stuff like introduce clark and Routh does a spot on Reeves facial thing, stuff like that. It took me about 1/4th of the movie to really dig and accept lois though. At first she was all very "plucky reporter" without any good questions to ask, but at some point it clicked for me. The scene (SPOILERS KIND OF)
with superman and lois on the roof also really got me, cause you can see superman wanting to like, take back his lady, and he's obviously kind of conflicted about whether or not to be a good dude about it.
I thought singer did a great job showing and using all his powers effectively, and I like how it kind of seemed like superman was never really at rest. He didn't sleep, he just hung out in the stratosphere chillin, listening to the sounds of the world, waiting to hear some shit go down. THEN HE WAS ON THAT SHIT!
I'm also really glad that singer didn't do yet another recap of his origin, and in fact kind of faked people out with the opening scene being sort of ambiguous, time-wise.
I kind of got a boner from the opening credits, too. Those first two movies are ingrained into my cellular structure from childhood at this point, so maybe you can take my thumbs up with a grain of salt. ¶ 11:55 AM 0 Comments
